The other six characters are the Hyundai descriptive code, in which general information about the vehicle is encoded - model, body type, engine type, production series, etc.

3. Tenth to seventeenth character of VIN

⚠️ Used Hyundai scams

Hyundai is a very popular brand of passenger cars in Europe. It is therefore not surprising that even used cars of this brand are a frequent target of fraudsters. Unfortunately, we encounter these scams every day:

  • Concealed previous damage - these are often also total crashes
  • False mileage
  • Falsifying the country of origin of the vehicle
  • Artificial rejuvenation of the vehicle - pretending the car is younger than it really is

Fortunately, fraud can usually be detected in time thanks to an online vehicle inspection.
