Every Audi produced has its own unique VIN code, or 17-digit code consisting of numbers and letters. The VIN code is a very important source of information about each vehicle, as the vehicle is listed under it in all important databases:

1. First three characters of the VIN
They represent the manufacturer's code - for Audi vehicles this is most often the WAU code.
2. Fourth to ninth character of the VIN
This is the Audi vehicle identification code. General information about the car, such as model, body type, engine type or production series, is encoded in the markings..
3. Tenth to seventeenth character of the VIN
The last 8 characters of the code represent the serial number of the specific Audi vehicle.
The last four characters of each VIN code must always be digits. At the same time, the VIN should never contain the letters O, I or Q, as they could be confused with the numbers 0, 1 or 9.
