TOP 100 - The world's best-selling cars in 2023

In 2023, for the first time in history, an electric vehicle - specifically the Tesla Model Y - became the world's best-selling car.

👑 The king is dead, long live the king!

The rankings of the world's best-selling cars were dominated by Toyota for many years. After all, the best-selling car of 2022 and 2021 was the Toyota RAV4.

However, in 2023, Toyota was overtaken by the Tesla Model Y electric car with 1,223,000 units sold, surpassing the second-placed Toyota RAV4 by almost 146,800 units.

However, the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota still clearly leads the total number of cars sold, occupying a total of 11 positions in the TOP 100.

📈 Chinese cars are growing in popularity

Even ten years ago, we were worried about Chinese cars, today they are becoming respected players in more and more markets, including the European one.

In 2023, 11 models of Chinese brands made it into the TOP 100 best-selling cars in the world, with the most successful of them ending up in 12th place with 473,300 units sold.
